We are so excited you are attending Camp 1831! Camp 1831 will be the perfect way to begin your UA experience. All Camp 1831 information will come to your Crimson Email Address. No information will be mailed. Please refer to the details below to prepare for your Camp 1831 session.
2017 Camp 1831 Supply List: Use this list as a guide for items to bring with you each day of Camp 1831.
University of Alabama Waiver: All participants are required to sign and submit a University of Alabama waiver. Waiver Forms will be available in February 2018.
If you are under the age of 19, please complete the Under 19 Camp 1831 Waiver. You’ll need to enter in your own information, as well as your parent/guardian name and email address. Once all parties have signed the document, a completed copy will be sent to our office.
If you are over the age of 19, please complete the 19 and Over Camp 1831 Waiver. You’ll enter your own information and after signing, a completed copy will be sent to our office.
If you are living on campus, Housing and Residential Communities will allow you to move in early before your camp session. You will indicate your intention to live on-campus during registration. More information on dates and times will be sent to your Crimson Email once you have registered for Camp 1831. If you are not living on campus, you will need to make accommodations for your living arrangements during Camp 1831. If you are unsure of your options, please contact our office.
We strongly advise students who plan to come to campus for Camp 1831 to participate in orientation and registration activities before the end of July. If you have not participated in orientation before you come to campus for Camp 1831, you will not have some services such as your meal plan and your Recreation Center privileges available to you. We suggest that you start a Bama Cash account at actcard.ua.edu (or call 800-474-2288 during business hours) or bring cash, a credit card, or a debit card with you. You will need money for meals outside of scheduled Camp 1831 activities until your fall schedule is confirmed in Student Account Services.
Bring your Action Card and a copy of your confirmation email to Check-In. Check-In is at 8:30 a.m. at the Ferguson Center Great Hall on the first day of Camp 1831 (August 8th and August 13th).
Note: Any students who arrive late or miss Check-In must contact First Year Experience and Retention Initiatives at (205) 348-8404 immediately. No refunds will be issued.
If you live on-campus, you should park your car in your residential zone. For students who live off-campus, you may park in the Ferguson Center Parking Deck. Please visit the Transportation Services site for information about parking and transportation on campus.
You can find a list of lodging accommodations in the Tuscaloosa area by visiting the Visit UA section of parents.sa.ua.edu. The University of Alabama does not endorse any of the hotels or shuttle services listed.

Each session lasts 3 days and 2 nights from approximately 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Day 1 and Day 2 followed by 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Day 3.
If you live on campus, you will be housed in your regular residence hall room or a close alternative if your room is unavailable at the start of your session. For campers living on campus, you may stay in your room for the remainder of your first-year after you move-in for Camp 1831.
If you live off-campus, you will need to make accommodations for your living arrangements. If you are unsure of your options, please contact our office.
You are encouraged to not use your phone during camp. All cell phones will be put away during camp and will not be allowed during camp activities so that everyone can be fully engaged.
You are expected to be in attendance at all Camp 1831 scheduled activities. You will not be allowed to stay in your residence hall during the early move-in period if you do not attend Camp 1831 sessions.
Once you register and check-in, you are committing to attend and participate in all Camp 1831 activities. Upon signing a waiver to participate, our staff maintains a level of responsibility for where campers are located and we want you to receive the full benefits of participating in Camp 1831 for the entire time. Please note dinner with family, leaving town, and other event conflicts are not considered extenuating circumstances for not participating in all events.
