Compass Talks

Compass Talks are your opportunity to set up individual meetings with a professional staff member, graduate student staff member, or undergraduate student staff member to discuss goal setting, involvement opportunities, and challenges or successes you are facing during your first year. 

Crimson Scholars

Crimson Scholars is a program designed for incoming students to connect with peers and upperclassmen peer mentors with similar academic/career interests and jumpstart their success at UA. 

Freshman Forum

Freshman Forum is a leadership development program with a focus on civic engagement. 

Ignite UA

Ignite UA is a community-building program that provides a spaces to build connections with peers, develop their own identity and an appreciation of difference in others, gain knowledge about UA opportunities and resources, and network with faculty and staff.

Legacy Scholars

Legacy Scholars is a program for first generation students designed to build a community of freshman who are starting a new legacy as the first in their families to go to college. 

Lucy's Legacy LLC

Lucy’s Legacy is a living-learning community (LLC) for women interested in exploring the historical significance and experiences of women of color at The University of Alabama.


Navigators are current students on campus who want to help students in their first year at UA navigate campus life and the transition to college. They are available Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Russell Hall 305!


New VIEW is for out of state, first-year women who want to build community and connections, foster lasting friendships, and promote college loyalty.

Out 2 Lunch

Out 2 Lunch is a program that encourages students to engage with their faculty members outside of class and over casual conversation.

Peer Leaders

Peer Leaders are upperclassman student leaders that serve as mentors and role models in first-year student courses.

Welcome Home Block Party

The Welcome Home Block Party is your official welcome to your new home away from home. At this exciting event you will explore the Capstone Creed and build community at UA!
