The Office of First Year Experience and Retention Initiatives supports the successful academic and social transition of new students into The University of Alabama community.
At The University of Alabama, we welcome first-year students from around the world, and we are excited to have you at UA. We recognize the experience will be different for each student, and it is our goal to assist you through the transitions by providing the resources you need to be involved and discover a sense of belonging.
The Office of First Year Experience and Retention Initiatives serves first-year students at UA by supporting students during their academic and social transition period. To provide support, the staff introduces first-year students to the University’s resources, policies, procedures, and services as an ease for the transition to campus.
First Year Experience and Retention Initiatives offers a wide variety of events and programming to empower students to connect and engage in activities that support academic and personal growth, explore opportunities, and foster a sense of belonging to the UA community. From Camp 1831 to Freshman Forum and Ignite UA, there is something for every first-year student.
